Hello everyone! and welcome to another review. Today I'll be reviewing the Wonder Woman.
But what is Wonder Woman?
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot, Steve Trevor, who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.
Wonder Woman is the third instalment of the New Dc Comics Justice League tie in movies. As far as the movie goes its a great one. It's not only amazing when it comes to visual graphics and CGI but it also tells, for the first time, a great origin story of a female superhero. Set back during WW2, Wonder Woman pretty much outclassed the other WW2 hero Captain America.
Wonder Woman is rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action, and some suggestive content and Brief nudity.
Things to consider before the Movie:
Swearing: Surprisingly little. We hear hell, bloody, bugger, and a few blasphemes.
Violence: Rather moderate. We see a wounded solder with a missing leg, a few amazon get shot, and solders get shot with arrows. But not much blood. Some guys get sliced with Wonder Woman's sword. A guy is exposed to poisons gas. Though all the violence is rather dulled down and not very excessive.
Avert: Steve Trevor is seen in a brief scene nude but is covering his privet area with his hand. In some scenes while the amazons are flipping around we can see there backsides though they are wearing like a bathing suit thing made of leather with short skirt things around their waist. A Scottish man, who is wearing a kilt, fans his legs after a long walk and we see his underwear. During the beginning we are shown a story in which we see the amazons coming out of the water all natural like. Nothing is shown though.
Other Negatives: There where quite a few innuendo's in the movie. Nothing that bad really but they are there. There was some drinking. One of the Germans is seen breathing in this gas that enhances him and could be seen as taking drugs. The Greek mythology of how humans where created is also present in the movie. In once scene it appears as if Wonder Woman has an intimate night with Steve Trevor. But we are left in the dark as to if they actually did anything.

Opinionated review:
Before I say anything about the movie I want to let you all know I'm not really a fan of Wonder Woman. I mean she is cool and everything but I've never really went out of my way to read any of her comics. I just read about her in the Justice League.
With that being said the Wonder Woman movie was pretty cool. Sure there was things I did like about it but it wasn't that bad of a movie, especially considering it's the first female Superhero movie ever made. They did a great job of telling an origin story about Wonder Woman. The movie had it's funny parts and it's sad parts. They did a great job at portraying an Amazon without making Wonder Woman so overwhelmingly masculine. There where times when she was just a funny naïve girl who fawns over babies and there where times when she was kicking butt and throwing armored cars around like it was nothing.
I also liked that this move had more of a WW2 feel. Captain America is also set in WW2 but it just doesn't really feel like WW2 with all the laser guns and flying boomerangs. While Wonder Woman does a great job at being a heroin in WW2. The movie has times when we see the destruction the war caused and the pain that came with it. In one of those scenes we even see a guy who suffers from PTSD. But it wasn't overly dark. It still had a times where it was light and funny.
Over all Wonder Woman is an enjoyable movie that tells a pretty cool story.
So what do you think? Have you seen the movie? do you Think I hit it on the nail or did I miss the broad side of the barn? Let me know your opinion in the comments down below.
Pictures and gifs used are owned by their respective creators and I do not clam any of them as my own
Only the war was the World War I - it's such a great movie that the viewer can't discern the two wars LOL.
ReplyDeleteHello AN! Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment. I hope you enjoy your time here! Really? How could you tell? As far as I can tell it's WW2 because of two factors.
Delete1) they where fighting Nazi's. And since Nazi's only came into being after WW1 I just assumed it was WW2
2) The Wonder Woman and Trevor where based off characters that fought in WW2 not WW1.
So because of those factors I just assumed it was WW2. But I'm not a History buff. I would love to know how to you figured out it was WW1!
Yes, it is WWI. They were fighting Germans not Nazis. Otherwise she'd probably have been after Hitler himself. WWI was when gas started being used for fighting. It was also the last great trench warfare. They called it the great war, the War to end all wars. And there are the planes. Not as far along as they would have been during WWII.
DeleteOOoohhh okay. Thanks for let me know!
DeleteOhh, great review Marrok!! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I want to. At least, now I'll know what to expect. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Karyssa! It was a fun movie I hope you get to see it soon!
DeleteThe thing I loved most above the move was the theme and character arc. Disillusionment arcs aren't as common as others, and are harder to get right. To see a well done one in a movie was a pleasure. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah they did a pretty good job with that didn't they. I can't wait to see what DC does next!
DeleteNice review! Your post was very informative, but I'm still not sure if I'm going to see this movie.
ReplyDeleteThanks James!
